Horror can cover a broad range of interpretations. For this particular index, however, I am limiting it to that which induces fear by means of monsters, demons, or other terrifying and often fictional creatures, or frightening paranormal occurrences which may or may not be real. Other types of horror, such as the horrors of war, poverty, abuse and oppression, and human suffering are listed under the Tragedy or Terror, Modern Thriller indices.
