One of the books mentioned in Dan Brown's novel,
The Lost Symbol, is The Kybalion.
It was a book I had saved on my Dover wishlist, waiting for it to go on sale, but happily, I found it for free at
Project Gutenberg. I cannot believe it has taken me this long to read it! It contains materials exactly what I've been seeking, and furthermore, confirms
what I have known for decades, and have been writing about for years. It is not a long book, and is written in easily understandable language, at least for
those of us who are familiar with the material. I started reading it as I was still reading Brown's book, and finished it first. I'm reading it again.
First published in 1908, it is a summary of the teachings of
Hermes Trismegistus, or "Thrice-Greatest Hermes." We are not exactly sure who he was—some say he may have been Moses.
He became known as the Egyptian god Thoth, and the Greek god Hermes. He was also the founder of what is known as
Hermetic philosophy. This manual deals with alchemy—not changing base metals
into gold, but the spiritual transformation of humans into gods. At one time long ago, we knew we had divine powers, but for whatever
reason—the Reptilian Invasion perhaps—we lost touch with our abilities to be Masters of
the Physical World. Like Jesus, we at one time were all able to calm the storms, bring back the dead to life, change water into wine, and more. Jesus
told us that point blank, and he came here, not because of "sin," but as a reminder of our latent abilities. We have lived in darkness for so many eons,
struggling to survive in a physical world in which we are slaves to a synthetic system of creation. But now WE ARE AWAKENING! I see it every day.
More and more people are embracing the truth about the power of the human mind. I strongly
suggest you read Brown's book, and certainly my review, and also the Bible
message, Son of Man, Sun of Man.
This present book discusses the Seven Principles of
Hermeticism, and gives detailed information about each. Though it doesn't exactly provide means for achieving these goals, it certainly does provide
opportunities for advanced perceptions and new ways of looking at our present situation and overcoming our "stuck-ness" in this prison of low-vibrational
frequencies. For those of us who are well educated on The Path, there is a wealth of material to hasten our journey.
I cannot recommend it highly enough!
I took a great many notes as I read, but I will just provide
you with a few important points. It is up to you to follow up and read it, then do further research. Interestingly, I found no surprises here—the material was
everything I have been working with for nearly forty years. However, I found I was able to adjust my thinking a bit with very positive results, just in the
short time since I read it. And while I do not exactly believe everything here, I approached it with an open mind, and found that I was able to embrace
new angles on old dilemmas that made more sense. I will now review some of the important points, including some of the many axioms.
"The lips of wisdom are closed, except to the ears of understanding."
The Seven Principles are as follows:
1. The Principle of Mentalism
2. The Principle of Correspondence
3. The Principle of Vibration
4. The Principle of Polarity
5. The Principle of Rhythm
6. The Principle of Cause and Effect
7. The Principle of Gender
The Principle of Mentalism says that:
The ALL IS MIND. THE ALL is defined as the "Substantial Reality underlying all the outward manifestations and appearances which we know under the terms of "The Material Universe;" "Phenomena of Life;" "Matter;" "Energy;" (and in short, all that is apparent to our material senses) is SPIRIT which in itself is UNKNOWABLE and UNDEFINABLE, but which may be considered and thought of as AN UNIVERSAL, INFINITE, LIVING MIND. It also explains that all the phenomenal world or universe is simply a Mental Creation of THE ALL, subject to the Laws of Created Things, and that the universe, as a whole, and in its parts or units, has its existence in the Mind of THE ALL, in which Mind we "live and move and have our being."
Once we grasp that definition, we can see that the other
principles are applied in order that we may use their knowledge to Master our existence in THE MIND. The authors call it a "Master-Key that may unlock the
many doors of the mental and psychic temple of knowledge, and enter the same freely and intelligently." They go on to say that Man creates mentally, with
mental images, using no outside materials. YES! There it is, what I've been saying for decades. We could, and we CAN again!
They then discuss the difference between Absolute and Relative Truth.
Absolute Truth has been defined as "Things as the Mind of God knows them," while Relative Truth is "Things as the highest reason of Man understands them."
"As above, so below; as below, so above."
Christians would say, "On earth, as it is in heaven," but it came from the Pagans first.
In the Planes of Correspondence, that states there is harmony, agreement, and correspondence between the several planes of Manifestation, Life and Being. According to Hermetic philosophy, the Universe is divided into three great classes of phenomena:
1: The Great Physical Plane
2: the Great Mental Plane
3: The Great Spiritual Plane
These are like states of being, scales of life to which we rise. A Fourth Dimension is "The Dimension of Vibration." which states that "everything is in motion; everything vibrates; nothing is at rest." That should be familiar to those of us on The Path, as it has been a main goal for many of us to "raise our vibration." It has also become a point of frustration, as we know, since there are diabolical actions being taken on the planet to prevent just that. After reading this material, I am convinced that, despite the attempts to create a frequency fence using chemtrails, EMFs and all the other inhibiting devices and substances that are bombarded at us daily—I am convinced that it is impossible to create a frequency fence, in reality. I believe they are mind controlling us to believe there is an imprisoning wall around us, but it is not actually there. I found the section and comments on Vibrations extremely helpful and liberating. We are perhaps no where near as stuck as we think, we just believe we are. That was certainly one of th new perceptions I gained from reading this book. Here is a passage on that:
Every thought, emotion or mental state has its corresponding rate and mode of vibrations. And by an effort of the will of the person, or of other persons, these mental states may be reproduced, just as a musical tone may be reproduced by causing an instrument to vibrate at a certain rate—just as color may be reproduced in the same way.
By learning how to use your Will to change your vibration, Mental Transmutation thus takes place.
"Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled."
At first I was skeptical. I mean, hasn't it been a goal with
so many of us to escape the world of duality? Perhaps we need not. According to Hermetic philosophy, we only need change the pole of what we
currently have or are, to what we desire. Think of opposites. It you are sick, you want to be
well—so you want to slide to the opposite end of that pole. In all the Darkness we are currently experiencing, remember, it is only an aspect of Light at
a different degree. To end the darkness, increase your movement toward the opposite end of the pole. You can use this technique with absolutely any part
of your life, or world situation that you wish to change. It would be good to get together as a group to work on shifting poles. This was probably the most
fascinating material in the entire book, because it is so simple, yet is nothing I had even considered. Amazingly! We, I think, are trying to make it too
difficult, and getting nowhere. We don't have to change the whole shebang—just
change the degree on the pole! So in that way we can take each particular aspect of life, rather than looking at the whole, and move each one by degrees
to the more positive end.
This section also discusses the swings of the pendulum, and
how we may neutralize its negative effects, by raising our vibration to a higher plane, and allowing the unwanted events to flow beneath us. I have been
working with this, and have found it extremely helpful.
In the chapter on Cause and Effect, the point is made that
nothing happens by chance, although the original cause may be so distant or blurred that we cannot attribute it to what is happening now. Karma would
certainly apply here.
Quite a bit is said about Free Will here, also, and the fact that so many people believe they are using their Free will to make choices, when in fact they are simply being influenced by forces around them. I certainly agree with that. It is part of the Great Slumber in which most people dream through life, and when one awakens, it is then that we see just how little control we have had on our lives.
The majority of people are carried along like the falling stone, obedient to environment, outside influences and internal moods, desires, etc., not to speak of the desires and wills of other stronger than themselves, heredity, environment, and suggestion, carrying them along without resistance on their part, or the exercise of the Will.
And here is another point I found quite interesting:
The Hermetic Teachings are that Man may use Law to overcome laws, and that the higher will always prevail against the lower, until at last he has reached the stage in which he seeks refuge in the LAW itself, and laughs the phenomenal laws to scorn.
And the last Principle discussed is that of Gender, which is
not about sex, but energy. The Masculine Principle gives out or expresses, while the Feminine Principle receives and creates. Certainly here now, we have a
massive imbalance of masculine energy. That accounts for the aggressiveness, and the mind control programs which now prevail. But it can work both ways,
and people who develop their Masculine Principle of Will can also use their influence to benefit humanity.
And now, having said that, I will leave you with a couple more axioms:
"To change your mood or mental state—change your vibration."
"To destroy an undesirable rate of vibration, put into operation the principle of Polarity and concentrate upon the opposite pole to that which you desire to suppress. Kill out the undesirable by changing its polarity."
"You do not have to shovel out or sweep out the Darkness, but
by merely opening the shutters and letting in the Light, the Darkness has disappeared." I think we all need to open the shutters wide, and the Great
Awakening that is imminent will quickly come to pass.
I absolutely highly recommend the reading of this book, along with putting its wisdom into practice and doing further research.
