Paranormal, Supernatural

There is sometimes a fine line between paranormal and horror, but there are also some distinct differences, so I created two different resource pages. Some materials appear in both, but in general, here are the differences, at least in my opinion: Horror is often fantastical, and meant to be scary. (I am not referring to the horrors of war or natural disasters, or that type of experience.) No one actually believes that Godzilla or Frankenstein's Monster, or the Creature from the Black Lagoon actually exists, but they can be scary all the same. Paranormal can be scary, but not necessarily. The Exorcist was one of the scariest movies I've ever seen in my life. But what makes paranormal scary, is that it is close to reality, if not reality itself. Possessions do happen. But so do paranormal activities that are not scary, but are beautiful. A visitation from an angel is paranormal, as is communion with a loved one that has passed on, but most people would not be terrorized by those experiences. For people, like myself who do Shamanic work or other types of metaphysical activities, paranormal becomes more "normal" rather than unusual.

I have included everything from my reviews that has that sense of normal activities juxtaposed with happenings that seem to come from another world. Some are really creepy, such as The Return, or borderline creepy, as in the House of the Seven Gables, or filled with beautiful, loving spirits, as are the tales in Some Chinese Ghosts. The non-fiction section includes books on real metaphysical activities. You may mouse-over the images to obtain more information.
