Dover Pictorial Archives

Text Box with description of Book

This is absolutely one of my favorite Dover art books. I first bought it because it contains 12 of the 16 pictures in A.G. Smith's Art Nouveau Windows Stained Glass Coloring Book. (One picture is broken up onto two different pages.) But even without the coloring book, I would love this picture book, because, not only is it a beautiful example of works by a known artist of the genre, the pictures brim with a delicious sense of wit and humor, including snarly-looking birds and reptiles, hidden impish faces, and especially the twisting vines that evolve into little fauns, drinking the freshly dripped grape wine. Every time I look through this book, I notice something new!
