Dover Book

Text Box with description of Book

This lush and gorgeous book is definitely of the coffee-table variety—something to keep handy—to browse during peaceful moments of relaxation. I chose five examples, but really any page would have been suitable, so these choices were random.

As stated in the Publisher's introductory note, Owen Jones is known for his use of chromolithography for color reproduction, the technique he used for the original publication of this collection. These patterns represent painted china (page 5 and 78), Cloisonné enamel (page 14 and 39), and surface enamel (page 49.) The only type I did not include was inlaid bronze because there was only one example which used that technique.

The examples are shown in numerical order: Pages 5, 14, 39, 49, and 78.
