Dover has compiled two wonderful collections of Tom Tierney's superb fashion art into CD-ROM format. This one covers the first half of the century (1900-1950) and the other the latter half (1950-2000). They are drawn from Tierney's paper doll collections, so that's why you'll notice each era has the same face and pose repeated.
Not only was Tierney a great fashion artist, he really knew his fashion facts. As in his coloring books and paper doll collections, he provides a wealth of information about the costume and designer. These collections are no exception. A detailed description of the fashion trends and designers of each decade are included, along with notes for each individual design. Be sure to read these materials, as they give a fine brief overview of the fashion world for the entire century. If you are into fashion, especially historic costume, you will love these two sets. The images are simply gorgeous.
The one thing I don't like is that they are a bit old, technologically speaking. Created in 2001, and saved in TIFF format, they are huge and must be greatly reduced in size to use, for instance, as I do on the web. (More recent Dover CD-ROMs include internet-ready images in a smaller format.)
