Dover Book and CD-ROM

Text Box with description of Book

Of all the Art Nouveau books with CD-ROM that I own, this one is perhaps the most unusual. Each design gives the impression that it is textured, perhaps a work of fabric art, or painted on canvas or wood, or even enameled. There are no repeatable designs in this one, so none of them would be suitable as backgrounds, although there are many, many border pieces that could be used as a horizontal repeat with a little creative cropping to match the ends. There are also quite a few that could be used as frames. The images range from very large full scenes to very tiny single motifs, and the colors are unbelievably rich, while still keeping that very Art Nouveau subtlety, with the rusts, mustards, creams, olives, and in this one, lots of nice plums. All in all, a very delightful addition to my collection of art and design from this fascinating movement.

Here is a smattering of what's available in this set. As always, you may mouse over any image to find the page number and image number from the book and CD-ROM.
