Dover Coloring Book

Text Box with description of Book

Unlike Bartfeld's Mandala Designs, which are simple geometric patterns, the mandalas in this book are much more complex, with many utilizing objects such as flowers and animals rather than abstract designs. These become works of art after they are colored. I found that using white or leaving spaces blank enhanced the beauty of these drawings.
I had a difficult time deciding which pictures to post! As you can see, in the first, from page 6, white plays an important role in bringing out the pattern. For the second, page 11, I used rainbow colors as my theme. The third, from page 12, looks like a woven basket. For the one on page 14, I used shading to create almost a motion, or flow. Page 23 is one of my favorites. I used gold and silver against the white to give it a regal look. And the last, from page 27, is done with Crayola metallic crayons.
