I did so much research as I was coloring this book, that I have to admit, I was thoroughly tired of masks when I finished. But gosh, did I ever learn a lot! With some of them I was able to find the exact mask online, such as the Chima Mask from Peru and the Maya Jade Mask from Guatemala. Many I am still discovering in Dover's own Pictorial Archives, especially the books with CD-ROM, such as the wooden African masks. Many others inspired me to do additional research. For instance, I found a video of a Japanese No performance, and learned that the Mud Man Mask from New Guinea is part of a ritual that is still reenacted. In all, this is just a very interesting and educational book.
